Being a Tourist in Your Own Neighborhood in Cavite

Historical Cavite If you recall your history lessons, Cavite played a crucial role during the Philippine Revolution. As such, a quick drive in Cavite will amaze you with all the historical markers you can find. These include the center of the Philippine Republic, and Battle of Zapote in Bacoor; the Battle of Imus, and the Battle of Alapan in Imus; Battle of Noveleta, and the Noveleta Tribunal in Noveleta; the Fort San Felipe and the Trece Martirez Monument in Cavite City to name a few. But the notable places to visit for a quick fix of Philippine history are the Aguinaldo Shrine in Kawit and the Bonifacio Shrine in Maragondon.
Natural Cavite Cavite is also a place for nature lovers. If you love hiking, you may want to try reaching the summit of Mt. Pico De Loro, Mt. Buntis or Mt. Nagpatong – which are all part of the Maragondon Mountain Range. If you love swimming, you may visit the different beach resorts in Ternate. Some resorts in Maragondon also offer swimming or camping by the river. There are also several ecofarms and nature spas in Tagaytay and Alfonso that you can also try. Or simply just enjoy the cool air and the site seeing in Tagaytay.
Delicious Cavite Cavite also has its own delicacies – a trip to each town will be a delight to your taste buds. You may try out the famous Pancit Puso, the Pancit Pusit and the Rice Cake of Cavite City. Or Visit the famous halo-halo in Bacoor. Travel to General Trias to have a taste of the arroz valenciana, or the kesong puti. Imus is known for its Longanissa, and of course Rosario for its tinapang Salinas.
Festive Cavite There are also several festivals observed in Cavite that you can take part in. Some notable celebrations are the Pahimis or coffee festival in Amadeo in April; the Regada or Water Festival in Cavite City in June; the Maytinis Christmas Celebration in Kawit every December 24; the Valenciana Festival in General Trias; and the Tinapa Festival in Rosario. The list of fiestas and activities just goes on and on.
